Using your Health Insurance for Therapy

Video Transcript

Hi, I’m Ilia Jones, Licensed Professional Counselor in Suwanee, Georgia, and I want to talk to you about using your health insurance for therapy. Most health insurance policies do cover and will pay for mental health services. You may have to pay a deductible first or you may have a co‑pay or co‑insurance, which is a portion of the charges.

I am in network with several insurance companies and so when you are seeing an in‑network provider you have a lower rate and you still have a co‑pay or co‑insurance, but you do have a lower contracted rate. I am in network with Anthem or Blue Cross Blue Shield; also, Aetna and United Healthcare and Oscar and PHCS.

So, if you have one of those health insurance companies, then I would be considered an in‑network provider and you do have a lower network contracted rate and I’ll file claims directly with the insurance company and that does save you some trouble. Hope this information helps.
