LPC stands for Licensed Professional Counselor

I graduated from Georgia State University in 1993. I started my career at SummitRidge Psychiatric Hospital, working on both the adult and adolescent units. I led a support group for teenagers during that time and participated in family and group therapy sessions. I started my private practice in 2003, after working with another group practice, so I have over 30 years of therapy experience. I have spoken to parents, teachers and school counselors on topics related to adolescents and self-injury. I participate in ongoing professional continuing education and have organized a peer consultation group, which has been meeting monthly for over fifteen years. I am always on the lookout for new skills and working on being a lifelong learner. I believe people have a good reason for doing most everything they do. We can, however, learn to tweak what we do to serve us better. When you decide you want to learn some new strategies and skills in order to make changes and improvements in your life, let me help.

My office is a 70s home that has been converted into office space, so it is a cozy, warm environment for therapy. You can walk up the steps to the front door and come in and wait in the reception area until I come and wave you over to my private office. I have refreshments for you while you wait, so make yourself at home.

You will like me as your counselor if you prefer a therapist who is direct, talkative, uses humor, and isn’t afraid to call you out on unhealthy behavior. I use a lot of little sayings that you will be hearing in your head after a few weeks and will remind you of things you’ve already learned. My clients tend to be able to tell that I like them, which helps them feel comfortable talking about difficult things. I will use well known proverbs and sayings to illustrate my point, but will probably butcher them. Because the squeaky wheel gets the birds in the hand with all the eggs in one basket, right?

Certifications and License

I have Georgia License #3551 and am licensed to provide counseling services to clients who reside within the state of Georgia.

SPACE, which stands for Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions, is a program for parents of children and adolescents with anxiety developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center. It is designed for a therapist to work with the parents only, on decreasing a child or teen’s anxiety symptoms and behaviors. It can also be modified to work with older children, including college-age young adults.

I have also undergone training and received Level 1 Team-CBT Therapist Certification from the Feeling Good Institute.

Additional Information

At this time, my office is not readily handicapped accessible. If you do need accommodations, please let me know and we will try to figure out how to get you access.

I do not provide 24 hour emergency coverage, so if you think you might need a counselor with emergency services, you may prefer a bigger psychological group practice.

My office is an updated 1977 house close to downtown Suwanee. Walk in the front door, and you will feel at home. When you come in, please have a seat in the reception area until I come get you.
