Hi, I’m Ilia Jones, Licensed Professional Counselor in Suwanee, Georgia. I wanted to introduce myself in case you are thinking about starting therapy. I have been a counselor since 2001. I have been in private practice for most of that time. I work with adolescents, teenagers who are trying to figure out their identity, how to be independent, self-esteem, getting along with parents, academics, getting along socially. I also work with adults who are having problems with depression or anxiety or with social relationships or at work or with their partners. I also like to work with married couples and do couples therapy, helping couples figure out how to communicate more effectively and figure out how to try to like each other again. I used to work at Summit Ridge Psychiatric Hospital when I first started in this field, and I worked on both the adolescent and the adult units. I have been in the Duluth-Suwanee area since 2001, and I graduated from Georgia State University with my master’s degree. Psychologists have PhDs. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who prescribe medicine, and I have a master’s degree. My approach is talk therapy. It’s called cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT for short, and it’s about changing your thoughts in order to change your feelings. I hope this little introduction helps you get to know me a little bit and helps you decide if I would be a good fit for you. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
